Jeremiah
1: 5 "Before I formed you in the Womb I knew
you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed
you a prophet of the nations." Psalms
22: 31 "They will come and will declare His righteousness
to a people who will be born, that He has performed it."
Psalms
78:6 "That the generation to come might know,
even the children yet to be born, that they may arise and
tell them to their children." Psalms 90; 2 "Before
the mountains were born, Or Thou didst give birth to the earth
and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou
art God."
The verses I have quoted would certainly point
out that God knows us before our birth. To me, that is a definite
indication that abortion is wrong.
Now lets discuss the way it should be handled.
Eric Rudolf is wrong. The other anti-abortion assassins are
wrong. Abortion is wrong, dead wrong, but murder to murder
is not right.
To the pro-choice group I must say, "You
are a sick group of people." Legal doesn’t mean right.
I have heard all of the arguments to the issue. "It is
the right of a woman to choose". Oh please, no one has
the right to choose another persons death, no matter where
that person is residing. It doesn’t matter if that person
is in Seattle or the womb.
I have also head the "viability"
argument and the "when is it life" argument and
so on. Here is my response to both arguments and just about
any other argument on the subject. In the conception of a
child the mother is alive, the egg is alive, the father is
alive and the sperm is alive. At no time in the process is
there non-life, or death involved. That makes it pretty simple
for me. A human life exists even before conception.
To make my point on why Christians have been
wrong in their response I will begin with another of my stories
and then expand into how we should respond.
Many years ago a friend of my wife’s came
to us with a problem. She was unmarried, and yes, pregnant.
She wanted to know what we thought about her having an abortion.
Well the immediate response was no! Then she delivered a humdinger
of a problem. She simply said, I cannot afford the baby. She
was a waitress, wasn’t sure who was really the father, had
no insurance and would need financial help if she were to
keep the child. Back then an abortion was under $200 if you
had to pay for it at all. She then asked if we would be willing
to help her financially if she didn’t get an abortion. Let
me tell you what, that put my faith where my mouth was. I
was newly married, had one of my own and was making about
$180 a week and my wife was an at home Mom. Now what do you
do? Well, we agreed to help. It was the toughest 18 months
of my life. Putting money out on prenatal care, delivery,
and then helping out once the baby was born was an incredible
strain. After 18 months she met a man that loved her and wanted
to care for her and they have been married for many, many
years. They even have two of their own.
So what is my point? First off instead of
protesting in front of abortion clinics we should establish
alternative clinics as close to abortion clinics as possible.
We should be counseling women on the issue of life and when
is a pregnancy a life. We should be counseling these women
on the emotional problems that will result sometime in the
future if they have an abortion. I have met many women that
have some real issues to deal with when years later they have
a child, or are around a lot of children and they realize
just how alive the aborted child was. Then we need to set
up financial aid for those who simply can’t afford to have
a child. It is tough to tell an unwed (or wedded) mother that
is making minimum wage or waitressing or in some other financial
crunch to "be ye warm and filled, now go away".
We can’t do that. Abortion clinics, unfortunately, offer a
quick and inexpensive way out of a hard situation. And we
all know that Americans will always seek the quick and easy
solution as opposed to the hard, long haul road. As for those
that seek abortion because it cramps their style, we need
to offer counseling regarding the long term emotional problems
and if the situation warrants it, we need to offer prenatal
care and adoption solutions. Even with this there will be
those that choose abortion (murder) over doing the right thing.
For those we can only offer prayer and a word of warning that
God will judge us all.
Which brings us to the killing of doctors
and the bombing of clinics. It is wrong. As long as the government
says it is legal, then we can only pray for the doctors involved,
council them in the ways of truth and try and overturn Roe
Vs Wade. To kill and destroy accomplishes nothing for Christ
and only makes us worse than them. Romans
12:19 "never take your own vengeance, beloved,
but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance
is Mine, I shall repay, says the Lord". And Isaiah
59: 18 According to their deeds, so He will repay...."
Let God deal with sinners, we must start to
do what is right. Take responsibility for yourself and reach
out in peace and love to the lost, don’t drop bombs on them
or shoot them in their kitchens. By screaming at the lost
and bombing the lost and shooting the lost we only strengthen
their resolve to continue to offer murder as a solution to
their problems.
Why aren’t abortion foes using TV the way
tobacco foes use TV?
